I attended and took photos at an Eatonville High School basketball game in early February. At the end of the game, we were chatting with my wife Kelli's uncle Bob in the stands, and since I already had my camera in my hand, I fired off a couple of photos of him. This one turned out to be one of the best of the night. The light is just right to catch an interesting range of tones on Uncle Bob's face. It's cropped tight because I was using my 85mm prime lens, but in many ways that adds to the intimate feel of the image, which also captures well Bob's personality -- rugged but generous and kind-hearted.
