It's third base. You're almost home. But not quite. You are that close to scoring. Do you chance it? Do you make a run for it? Do you watch for that momentary lapse of concentration on the part of the pitcher and catcher, that slightly wild ball, that overthrown or underthrown pitch that might cause them to take their eyes off you as you sprint for home plate and slide under the catcher's reaching arm to score?
