One of the best things about working for the National Park Service (or any good organization, I suppose) is the friendships you develop over the years. Sometimes those friendships are in spite of the natural formality that comes with being part of the "chain of command," one person supervising another. Jim, on the left, is clearly the senior member of this pair, but Lee, on the right, is the career professional. Yet the fondness between them is unmistakable. They've shared far more than simply performance evaluations and personnel paperwork over the years, and their bond will last in spite of the distance created by new jobs and new addresses.
