I took this photo looking through the window of my office at Mount Rainier National Park. This little fellow was one of three birds, just juvenile enough to still be fed by their mother, but old enough that they really should have been out fending for themselves. They'd sit on the edge of the roof, preening and stretching their wings, or huddled against the occasional rain shower, till Mama dropped by with a bug to regurgitate into their mouths, then hop up with mouths wide open waiting for the treat. They were right at the limit of my zoom lens, and it was hard to get a good picture with a lot of detail in it, so I'm particularly proud of this one. It helps that, after almost constant movement, it finally settled down for a few seconds to wait out the rain.
