Today is National Public Lands Day! It's also the day Mount Rainier National Park is rededicating the Glacier Basin Trail, large parts of which were destroyed by flooding five years ago in November 2006. Over the last four years, hundreds of people have contributed tens of thousands of volunteer hours rebuilding the trail, many of them under the leadership of the Washington Trails Association. This is one of my favorite photos of a WTA volunteer working on the trail. To be fair, most of the trail runs through the forest, but who can resist such a sunny image with such a beautiful Mountain in the background? I wish the exposure on the Mountain snow was better, but I still really like the composition and color of this image.
