Archive photo of the day: Jessica pulling the sled

With the weather turning cooler and damper, my thoughts turn to the approaching winter. Here's one of my favorite images from our years at Crater Lake.

Sometimes the simplest photographs can turn out unexpectedly well, for reasons you didn't even conciously notice when you snapped the shutter. Case in point: I don't think it registered at the time that all of the lines in this photo were leading the same way--the track of the sled, the lines my neice Jessica were holding, the slant of the falling snow. Nor did I see the symmetry between Jessica's red outfit and that of her sister Stephanie at the back of the sled, with my sons David and Daniel in between in green on the green sled. Sometimes these serendipities create nice art, accidentally.
