I stayed out well after dusk at Tolovana Beach, experimenting with long exposures. On the way back to the hotel, on a whim, I set up this self-exposure, taken for 15 seconds at f/4.0 and 800 ISO. I love the way the color came out, in the blue light of dusk, with my reflection on the beach in front of me.
The same dusk self-portrait on Tolovana Beach, but converted to stark black and white. I think I prefer the natural (blue) light of dusk, but there's something dramatic and bold about this image too.
