Walking in support of a cure for Multiple Sclerosis

This year, for the second time, our family will be walking in the National MS Walk in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Consider joining us!

My sister Lisa was diagnosed with MS three years ago and struggles with it every day. At the same time, promising new research is underway into new treatments to slow, stop, or even reverse the progress of the disease. You can help my sister and her family in several very concrete ways:
  • Join our team! Solidarity is important--and also fun! 30 of us had a great time walking the 5K together last year along the Willamette River. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us again this year! Check out our team page to see who has already joined us, or to sign up yourself:
  • Donate! Your contribution will be used to provide support services for people like my sister who have MS, and to fund research into treatments and cures. You can donate on our team page, or on my individual page here:
  • Spread the word. Mention us on your Facebook page, Twitter account, or blog. Remind others that the Pacific Northwest has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, and that many people, like my sister, suffer debilitating effects from it every day even as they appear, on the outside, to be unaffected.
  • Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Not everyone is near enough to participate; and not everyone is able to contribute, especially in this economy. We'll still appreciate it if you can put the date on your calendar and think about us as we walk. Imagine a world with no MS!
Thanks for your support,

Kevin Bacher
Captain, "Team Lisa"
